Our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 |

GOI ANZ appreciates (GOI) that privacy is very important. GOI has adopted this Privacy Policy as we recognise the right of people to keep their personal information private. This Privacy Policy covers GOI's treatment of personally identifiable information that we collect or hold. Like many other organisations, we must comply with the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) contained in the Australian Privacy Act when dealing with personal information.
In this privacy policy, personal information (as defined in the Privacy Act) means information or an opinion (including information or an opinion forming part of a database), whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an individual whose identity is apparent, or can reasonably be ascertained, from the information or opinion.
Personal & sensitive information include name, address, phone numbers, email address, birthday dates, year of school attendance, language spoken, sex, age group, marriage status, religious preference, personal attitude to the others, hobbies, interest, talents and gifts.

Collection |
It is usual practice to collect personal information directly from the individual. It may be in the form of Survey, Feedback, Application Form, Questionnaire and the like.
All these forms shall state the purpose of the information collection. Add the following statement in the form :

Send a copy of the form to Privacy Officer for his/her record. In case, there is an enquiry, he knows what form it is.

THE PRIVACY POLICY OF Gospel Operation International (Australia New Zealand) |
| This policy has been adopted by GOI ANZ in order to comply with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 The policy should be read together with the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) set out in the Privacy Act. A summary of the NPPs is attached. |
- In this policy, a reference to GOI ANZ means the Gospel Operation International Australia & New Zealand Office.
- GOI ANZ will comply with the National Privacy Principles (NPP’s). If there is any inconsistency between this policy and the NPP’s, then the NPP’s prevail.
- GOI ANZ only use personal information for the primary purpose for which it is collected. In most cases, the purpose will relate to the spiritual, pastoral, social, educational and administrative functions of the GOI ANZ.
- GOI ANZ will only use personal information about an individual for a secondary purpose (i.e. something beyond the scope of the primary purpose) if that individual has consented or the use is otherwise permitted by the NPP’s.
- GOI ANZ will take reasonable steps to keep personal information secure and will, subject to the NPP’s, comply with any request from a person to correct or remove his or her information. GOI ANZ will appoint a Privacy Officer who will be responsible for storing, correcting and giving people access to personal information collected about them.
- Personal information collected by GOI ANZ may be sensitive information for the purpose of the NPP’s (e.g. information about a person’s religious beliefs). As a non-profit organisation, GOI ANZ is permitted to collect sensitive information without a person’s express consent. However, GOI ANZ will endeavour to seek consent from a person if sensitive information is sought for something other than the primary functions described in paragraph 3.
- The operating procedures (whether or not they are formalised in a manual) of GOI ANZ will comply with this policy and the NPP’s.
- We protect the personal and sensitive information that we have under our control from unauthorised access, improper use or alteration by restricting access to our files and database to only those personnel responsible for their maintenance and use.
- GOI ANZ will appoint a Privacy Officer who will be empowered to receive and deal with any complaint that GOI ANZ has not complied with this policy or the NPP’s.
